ok, my bag about the racism thing... it's just a rumour i remembered hearing at the time. it made sense to me, because it seemed like overnight the term "jungle" totally disappeared, like it was a media decision. anyway, i too hope desperately that 2step is not the conclusion.

well, i don't know. i guess we'll have to just say it's a matter of opinion. there's definately a couple of jams on there, but it doesn't have the depth of HAB, in my view. for one thing, although he may do it well, he borrows really heavily from aphex--enough so that it often sounds annoyingly derivative. like "theme from ernest" is the most egregious example i can think of offhand. i just have to give afx the props for inventing that style with HAB in the first place--there was nothing like it at the time. all those rickiety ratchity details and wierd ass noises mixed with d&b-like rythms... i can still remember where i was standing the first time i heard it... (and bought 2 copies) funny, when the squarepusher stuff was released, especially because of HAB, alot of people (myself included) were convinced it was a secret aphex alias.

could not be considered overly repetitive, boring or played out. ya, that's a pretty wierd album, so bleepy and electronic, without using the typical samples... like that *SNARE* that everybody seems compelled to use (didn't squarepusher use it on his latest release?). i like track 12 (refraction)--that synth riff is so simple but really nice. i have to say though, i think the "abstract soundscape" stuff on that album is positively awful. and the cover-art is... yikes. overall i really don't like T Power (sounds cheesy to me), with the exception of that track, and the overplayed yet classic "mutant jazz" (although listening to it now, i think it sounds dated). __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
